How to make the Bling Rap Diamonds in Photoshop tutorial<\/span><\/h3>\n

Step 1<\/span><\/h3>\n

Begin with the text you want to turn into the gold and Diamond “Iced Out” effect.
\nRight click on the layer panel and choose Rasterize Type (Rasterize Layer on older versions)<\/p>\n

This will make the text editable.<\/p>\n

Step 2<\/h3>\n

Make a selection around the text (Hold down Ctrl\/CMD and click on the layer thumbnail)<\/p>\n

Press “D” to reset to default colors<\/p>\n

Filter>render>clouds<\/p>\n

If the render menu is not available make sure you are in RGB mode.<\/p>\n

Step 3<\/span><\/h3>\n

Now this is where we create the diamond effect.<\/p>\n

Filter>FilterGallery<\/p>\n

When the filter gallery opens, choose Distort category and and click on glass\u00a0 (Filter>Distort>glass on older versions)<\/p>\n

Choose the tiny lens from the texture options<\/p>\n

and scale it down.<\/p>\n

Use the settings as shown here.
\n(You may have to play with the scaling and distortion to match the size of the image you are working on, but the distortion should be high and the scaling low)<\/p>\n

Click OK to apply<\/p>\n

Choose Curves (Crtl\/Cmd+M)<\/p>\n

Grab the top right point (or the white triangle at the bottom) and drag it across to the left until your diamonds look like the bright ones here. If your diamonds already look like the image, skip this step.<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/span><\/h3>\n

We now have the diamond covered look to the text. Its common to have a golden border with this effect.<\/p>\n

Step 5<\/span><\/h3>\n

Apply a layer style to the layer, choose stroke.<\/p>\n

The important things here are:<\/p>\n

Position = Center
\nFill type: Gradient, choose the default copper setting
\nMake the size 10 (or larger for thicker gold)<\/p>\n

Step 6<\/span><\/h3>\n

Click on the Bevel and emboss option<\/p>\n

Choose “Stroke Emboss” this will apply the bevel to the stroke we just made.<\/p>\n

Crank the Depth up and set the size for the same as the stroke:10<\/p>\n

Change the gloss contour until you get something that looks nice and metallic.<\/p>\n

Click OK<\/p>\n

Step 7<\/span><\/h3>\n

Here we have our basic effect. We just need to adjust the color to make it look more like gold.<\/p>\n

Step 8<\/span><\/h3>\n

Apply a Hue\/Saturation adjustment layer and push the saturation all the way up to 100<\/p>\n

Tweak the hue until you get a nice gold color.<\/p>\n

Step 9<\/span><\/h3>\n

Last thing we need to do is add some sparkles.<\/p>\n

Load the assorted brush set that comes with Photoshop.<\/p>\n

Click the arrow at the top of the brushes presets panel (brushes panel in earlier versions) and choose\u00a0 assorted from the menu. When prompted select “append”<\/p>\n

Choose the small starburst. (change to list view if you need to make it easier)<\/p>\n

Make white our foreground color<\/p>\n

Step 10<\/span><\/h3>\n

Create a new layer and “dab” in the sparkles with the paintbrush tool.<\/p>\n

Here I added a gradient background to set it off.<\/p>\n
