In this tutorial, Im going to show you how to smoothen of the sharp corners of your graphics.<\/h3>\n

If you are looking to just create rounded cornered rectangles, then use the shape tool in photoshop and choose the rounded corner option from the live shapes under the properties panel (Photoshop CC). If you are looking for something a bit more advanced, or how to round the corners of a rasterized shape, read on…<\/p>\n

Create a new layer, Make a shape, select it and fill with foreground color. Alt\/Option delete.<\/p>\n

You may already be starting with a shape, that’s fine too.<\/p>\n

Select>save selection name the new channel “shape”<\/p>\n

Switch to channels Palette and click on the “shape” channel. Cmd\/Crtl +D to deselect all<\/p>\n

Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Use a higher setting for a more pronounced effect or a smaller setting for a more subtle effect.<\/p>\n

Open the levels box: Cmd\/Ctrl +L<\/p>\n

This is where the magic happens. Drag the left triangle to the middle, now drag the right one to the center until all 3 arrows are on top of each other. Click ok.<\/p>\n

Ctrl\/Cmd click on the channels thumbnail (1) to turn on the selection.<\/p>\n

Click on the RGB thumbnail to select all channels (2)<\/p>\n

Go back to the layers palette.<\/p>\n

Hide the original shape layer<\/p>\n

Create new layer (layer 2) and fill with a solid color or gradient.<\/p>\n

You now have your shape, ready for you to continue building something.<\/p>\n

This is the technique I used to create the handle on my raygun.<\/p>\n
